Hi i am knew to this site and new to this hobby. I am sure this has been asked before, but I was not able to find it. I have a Torch Coral which appears to be splitting, but the part that is splitting is hanging off to the side and landing on the live rock the stony part sits in. i tried to take pictures to show exactly what's going on. any information would be great. thanks!

I wouldn't worry about it. I have had some hammers and torches do some very weird splitting. I assume the top piece was the original head which looks to be attached on the side which is where it would normally start to split. My torches usually split right down the middle of most of the stalks but have come out of the bottom before on a few occasions. All of the tissue appears to be healthy.

Awesome, thanks for the reply. The top piece is the original one which is attached to the original rock. It has start to split and i was worried since it is not getting attached to the original piece of rock.

I'm not sure about it splitting. The tissue looks to be coming off the skeleton. I had that happen to one of my torches and it was died a week later. I hope that I'm wrong. I would check all your parameters and see if anything is out of order.

That torch does not look happy at all. for sure check your water.

Water Parameters are good. nitrite and nitrates are 0. ph is at 8.0 kH is 180 and GH is 180. Checked calcium a few weeks back and it was reading above 480. i also have 2 tomato clowns which have paired with it.

the torch is still doing good from what i can observe. i was usingInstant Ocean Reef Accelerator before and it seemed to perk it up more.

Here is an updated picture of the Torch Coral. The piece on the bottom detached about 2 days ago. Looks to be doing healthy and growing more.

The last time i checked it was around 180 and the torch is hosting the clowns, including the piece on the bottom when it opens up good.
