Trident Reagent

I’ve waited and battled for months to get my hands on a Trident and now I’m at 25% reagents and no hope in hell buying more. COVID-19 is a piece of crap !! Even in Canada we got the shaft.
Get on Dynamics list they will get you some!

It’s a bit ironic that we all hated that Mindstream was a subscription service but now I’m wishing reagent refills were subscription based :(

It would have made no difference with the Mindstream. They would have also closed for Covid and distribution would have also been dead.
I have always been saying that from day one that all these systems are subscription based. maybe for the exception of the Alkatronic if your willing to make your own reagents! With all these systems you depend on one company for the supplies and I doubt that third party manufactures will appear due to possible legal issues.

Lol good luck. It was much easier to find reagents when I got my trident in June. Not so much anymore. My unicorn has been sitting in my stand with a red light since October. I’ve given up all hope ;Hilarious

I don't know how they can say they will have supplies on the 24th of April when Neptune has not made an official statement saying they are back to distributing products.
My lfs told me what they had is it. The reagents are apparently imported from China.

I assumed that it was made in China also. Neptune would have to clear a shipment and do distribution. That is something that I don't think they are going to be doing at this time.

Well no matter what Neptune product your looking for its out of stock.
Has been heading this way for a while.
This is the problem with manufacturing things out of the country.
Yes it comes at a cheaper price tag but this is the flip side of the coin.
Neptune could bring 100% of the manufacturing here to the USA.
But the billion dollars it would take would be passed down to us.

The EPA regulations on injection molding processes alone and the equipment to contain all the bad stuff would be thousands if not millions of dollars alone.

But it is what it is.
China is over and done, the last straw was drawn and we the people are not going to be buying things made in China.

Do you know what the number one question is on Amazon products currently?

Is this made in China?

We know why the question is asked, and now products will not be bought.

I don’t really care where it’s made. It’s just a reagent. 99% of stuff on our tanks are made in China. Lights etc are assembled in America but the parts still come from China. Most of the stuff on amazon made in China really isn’t that bad. I just bought an airline junction with a bunch of valves to control air flow for my phyto and brine farm. A $7 part with 4 anti backflow valves. It’s not a major component but it works very well. Lots of gun parts made in America such as bipod a made in America typically cost $1-400+. For the same exact product made in China off amazon for $20. Why pay 10x the price for the same thing?. At that price point, American manufacturers should lower their prices to compete or increase tariffs on China because it’s just not fair for American businessmen.

Well we cant get political here on Reef 2 Reef and I don't want to as well.
But I would ask you you to look closer at the situation overall, and you should care where it is made.

I know very little about the reagent industry …. but it is conceivable they have higher priories right now for their capacity than making stock for Neptune …..

what items are you looking for besides reagents ? I have almost everything available dynamictankdotcom

Currently I am not looking for any Neptune products, other than reagents but I have three months to go before I am out. So I am in hopes I can pick up another two month supply by then. If not well back to manual testing LoL.

But I have been watching products made in China of late not just Neptune. and they are all dwindling more rapidly by the day, and by the time Covid-19 is behind us we here in the US will be looking at empty shelves.

Why is the question being asked?

It's hard to steer clear of Chinese made stuff because often there isn't an alternative. Takes time to build an alternative source of supply … which of course will likely cost more. Then people will complain about that. I doubt there will be major changes to made in china/made in America frankly.

American manufacturers should lower their prices to compete or increase tariffs on China because it’s just not fair for American businessmen.

American sourced/made is more expensive because we pay people more. Made in China has always been principally about labor arbitrage. Last time I looked Chinese workers make about $4/hour. Other low cost manufacturing countries are even lower.

I know that Japan and India are seeing this as an end game situation with them and China. Japan has put up 800 Billion in aid to companies that need cash to move out of China. India is reviewing all its deals with China. The problem is not just Covid. It's been Asian Flu, SARs, H7N9 and now Covid-19.
Many countries are starting to come to the conclusion that unrestricted air travel between themselves and China is in the future going to lead to something even worst than Covid reaching their shores.

I think by time this is over and people start reflecting on the deaths and the personal financial loses they are not going to be feeling to happy towards China. This phase of the process, "The Blame Game phase" has not even really started yet and usually does not start until the suffering is over and done with.

That is a notion that has been baked into peoples heads. I should know, I have dealing in this area from before China was even a player. Yes the wages and costs are a lot cheaper in China but those savings are most times not passed onto you. Back in the old days most companies had much lower double digit profit margins. What manufacturing in China has allowed is triple digit profits on most items.

If you knew what an Apex controller really cost to make in China versus what your paying for it at Neptune your head would explode. Germany has very high wages and yet GHL can make a controller for only about 15% more in cost than Neptune and made out of a lot better materials. That is because GHL is making double digit profits while others are making triple digit.

Just go to eBay and look for a product made and sold directly from China and then look for that product on Amazon through a reseller. You will find the eBay item might be $15 and on Amazon it's $30. If you flew to Shenzen you could probably find the same item in a mega store for $8 and if you bought them directly from the factory in bulk it would be about $5. That same USA store that is selling it to you for $30 is buying it for $5 !!
If that item was made in America it might cost $12 from the factory and if the seller was willing to make a more reasonable profit margin they could easily sell it for the same $30.

I used to work for a company called Futura designs way back in 1987.

We made office furniture. Everything was made here. Our wood products came from Oregon.
The laminates from Texas if I remember right.
The machinery we used for lamination and edge banding were European.
The saws, nail guns etc who knows.
Two families owned the company, the fathers and the two sons ran it.
There were some 90 employees in the fatory most of them had the same social security number and were from Mexico.
Great hard working people.

Our top of the line desk a 36X60 Tradiitional series was 90% particleboard and 10% pine, was cut, laminated, stained, assembled, and shipped out from the factory in the city of Industry Ca.

The invoice out the door was $293.00 to our non discounted customers.
There was an average of 9-10% profit margin.

I happend to be in a retail store that sold office furniture, low and behold on the sales floor was one of the Traditional series desks.
I will never forget the price tag.
$1,449.99, on sale from $1,649.99

This is why I get frustrated with people who blame the manufacturers.
Yes this is just one case and maybe not the normal situation even back then, but thats the FACTS AS I KNOW THEM.
Just something to think about.
