So I will get a new torch, dip it, QT it, then move it to DT. Fills out and looks good to great for a week or two, then shrivels and eventually melts (pulls back from the edges of the skeleton then just dies). Nitrates 15-20 consistently with no major swings, phosphates .02-.04 both Hanna checkers, Alk 9.5, pH 8.1-8.3 Apex & Trident checked against Hanna and Red Sea.
I do dose Vodka, vinegar, RODI (homemade no-pox)
I have placed them lower, higher, more flow, less flow (never dead zone or hammered). Last ones I lost several heads and have one left (been in tank for probably 2 months).
I do have two magnificent rabbit fish that I just learned yesterday maybe aren’t fully reef safe, but haven’t seen them picking at them.
I have a Pearl bubble coral, frogspawn, and blue tridacta clam that have been in same tank as long or longer and they look really good.
Tank is 210 gallon RedSea S1000 with three AI64 lights.
Any help appreciated.

I've had similar issues, and here is what I find.
Firstly, they like low light (roughly 100PAR) and lower flow.

As for the problem, I see this same behavior if my pH changes by more than 0.1 in a day. I have also noticed it if alk moves more than 1dKh in a day.

Since these two are closely related, I can't tell you the exact issue, but this is the anecdotal info I found.

Torches are at the top of my list of corals I've given up on and sworn off for good. I can get a few months out of them before they always melt out of nowhere. In my case I might as well be burning $100 bills. I have some huge frogspawn colonies though. I realize some are very successful with them but I'm learning that it's one of those things that should be left in the ocean. I bought a $30 black light torch around black Friday that seems to be doing really well though. Thats about my limit for buying them.
