Tunze Magnet Rusting

Anyone have a Tunze magnet do this? I pull it out after cleaning and rinse it with tap water. I have not even owned it long. At the top there that looks like metal busting through. It is even bulging under the plastic so I think the metal is expanding inside.

I personally have not, but its possible. I would call Tunze, or even PM them here, to express a concern. I doubt their is any type of warranty, but you can a least let them know so they can look into it.

Honestly as much as these cost there should be a danged good warranty.

I wish they would, but unfortunately I don't think any glass cleaner does. I will not keep them in my tank next time though. Its for a different reason. I left mine in the tank and deposits would build up, so when I used it, the deposits would scratch the inside of the tank.

Mine did something very similar as well but I always kept mine in the tank. After about 3 years it started to swell. I had weird issues with SPS pale and dying that resolved pretty quickly after removal.

I rinse all my magnets well and leave them out of the tank
Contact tunze and send them pic. They have excellent customer care

I agree that definitely looks like a failure and I’d take it out immediately. I’ve had one of these in my tank since Sep 17 with no issues personally so will keep an eye on it. I agree with the point about them not being cheap so hopefully their support gives you a replacement. Good luck.

They said they are going to replace it, two year warranty. I bought it Aug 15, 2020
