I have a sump that I’m selling and someone offered me rock for it. I could use some more rock but just wanna know if this is a good or bad idea to get rock that I have no idea anything about it. Here’s some pics. What are your thoughts.

If I had to guess I would say that rock has been in an aquarium before. I've got a barrel in my garage where I've tossed in some used "reef rock" that folks gave me for free. I acid washed it, bleached it, and then let it "cure" for 6 months, with frequent water changes with used water from my own tank, and when I tested the barrel the phosphate was so thick my Hanna ULR pegged (over 200 ppb).

If you want live rock, sell the sump and use the money to buy some out of a working reef tank or from a reputable vendor.

The rock in these pictures could be from a great old system or from a quarantine system and loaded with copper and meds, and who knows what else. Current trader might not even be fully aware of where it came from? Do what you think is right, but I'd pass.
