I use to run the 14k Phoenix but changed to the 20k Ushio. My corals have better color in them and I have noticed no change in growth. But not only do my corals look better the colors are more vibrant! I have had a colony of purple deaths that wouldn't stay purple and more of a brown, but with the Ushio 20k they are turning more purple.

deffinately not a 14k ushio, its a crisp white
phoenix is more of a white with a tint of blue
ive had both so these are first hand accounts

Yeah I had both the ushio and pheonix 14k. My choice would be the pheonix as the ushio is a crisp white and a hint of yellow to me. Where the Pheonix is white with a good amount of blue in it.

+1 phoenix 14k nice whitish blue..my purple death are also nice purple color w/bluish skirt...i got a brown purple death a month ago from a friend and after a few weeks with the phoenix 14k bulb its turning purple like my old ones:bigsmile:
