Using raspberry pi for controler?

That's absolutely spot on all you need to get going. You don't even need to run the imager software from your PC.
Have you looked at the TPLink Kasa power strips?
 
Are you building from scratch or doing plug and play?

If doing P&P I am buying RoboTank. Everything is already assembled except for inserting Raspberry Pi. @robsworld78 sells them, check out his website. He also sells components if you are building your own.

Other parts like Raspberry Pi, monitors etc can be bought off Amazon.

Lots of threads on here if you search for ReefPi. Do know lights, pumps, etc need to be able to be controlled first and will tell you that in their literature.

@Ranjib is one of the developers and there is a site called Adafruit that explains things also.

Hope this helps. I am doing it because it appears to be compatible to the bigger $$$ controllers with out all the flash.
