Hi reefers I am new to reefing and need some help deciding on a Sterilizer for my system.
Thinking about getting a Pro Max 120 for my 300 gallons system. Anyone have any long term reviews on this item or would you recommend just getting the Pentair 120w for the extra money

@Badilac is very knowledgeable on the Lifegard ProMax units. If they made a 15 watt unit, I would’ve jumped all over it. Here’s a good thread that he started on the subject.

They are actually almost the same price...and I prefer the lifeguard
$659 vs $720

I’m almost at the 2 year mark on my Promax 90watt on my 300g+ think has been flawless and I wouldn’t pick any other name brand. Did you read my thread that @Water Dog linked above? Yearly cost will be much more on the Aqua or Pentair that’s for sure
hi im looking at purchasing a Uv for my new system im looking at the Lifeguard Uv 90 watt 3 ". Is that enough for a 180 gallon tank with about a 50 gallon sump.
total water volume is roughly 225. I am currently battling dino in my current 150 which i dont want to have issues in new tank. Ostreposis

Yes. I’m over 300g

While I would never use one long term, for $70 it's hard to beat a jebao unit.

If one was going to run one 24/7 for an extended period of time, I would pony up for a more expensive unit designed to work in SW. The large jebao unit is designed for FW pond use.

For me, to just use it to beat back dino's(short term), it's hard to not say no to a $70 unit that does the same thing as a $300+ dollar one.

Been using the 90 watt Lifegard ProMax on my 220 mixed reef for 18 months. I replaced lamp at one year and clean the quartz glass tube every six months. I will replace the removable inner pvc sleeves (nice feature) at two years. The countdown ballast is awesome. Its a snap to take apart for the maintenance.

Aqua UV 57 watt would be your best bet IMHO. I have one and have been very happy with it in a 225 gallon system and would happily apply to a 300 as well.
