A few weeks ago I bought a mush frag from my LFS that's absolutely gorgeous. There's a large mush and a little one next to it. However, until today I never realized what the stringy, threadlike discharge that was excreted from my frag onto other rocks was. I finally found pictures of Vermetid snails, and realized that I have one on the side of the frag. I can see it's little head sticking out, and it spews out the sticky thread every once and a while, and reels it back in, presumably eating whatever it attached to. How do I get rid of this, and is it a huge deal? I can post pictures, but they aren't great, since it's so small and my camera isn't great.

It's not a huge deal, but they do get annoying. I would try glue or shove a sharp object in the hole to kill it.

Nvm, problem solved. I read somewhere that you can pry their shells off the rocks and I did just that with a little army knife I had. (It was brand new and clean) And the little sucker wasn't happy but it popped off really easily! Now I have him in a sep. container with tank water and under lights, just so I can watch him pop his head out only to realize he's allllllllll alone. Muahahaha. :)

I normally pop them off, but you have to make sure you get the whole thing. They do grow back if you don't. I use a little screw driver, and get right underneath them. They will reproduce quickly if levels are right for them.
