Vertex Alpha 170 help

I recently bought one of these skimmers (used) with the red dragon pump. I cannot seem to get the pump to stop pulsing. I have the volute cover all the way unscrewed and it still just barely pulses. Does messing with the water height in the sump do anything?

Take the impeller out and see if the magnet part of the impeller is swelling.

I believe water depth needs to be 9-10" and not fluctuate.

Right now it’s at 8” but does not fluctuate. I’ll try increasing and see if that helps. Thanks

Look on YouTube. The vertex alphas have had that problem a lot. If it contuines to do it after break in. Then check out the YouTube video where a guy show you how to correct it. I have an alpha 170 with the vertex motor. But my pulsing went away after break in.
