Vibrant Overdose! Help Please

Hey guys, for the first time in 8 years I read the label wrong and overdose Vibrant 10x the amount required.

I have 150 gallon mixed reef tank established. I dosed 120 mls which is well over the amount required. I had just finished a 15 gallon water change prior to this because of the chemiclean.

I’m very concerned and any suggestions of experiences would be very helpful. I’m working on making another 15 gallons now and added a bunch of carbon as well as running Rowa Phos. Should I be more concerned or not worry?An immediate massive water change isnt possible

I don’t really think you will have much of a issue unless it drops nitrate or phosphates to much I would do water changes to be safe but I’m not expert so here’s a bump

Hi,

I would keep flow and surface agitation up. Watch for a potential bacteria bloom. Other than water changes I can’t see much else that can be done. I do not know of any media that will pull it out. I would not worry about anything other than a bloom and the fish being affected.

I did the same thing I put 300ml in my 300 I think it killed my urchin and my torches are not happy.

Run your skimmer more of a wet skin a few days

there is a giant vibrant thread, and there are multiple people who have done this same thing. I think you'll be alright. Don't worry about a water change. But i think you should watch your nitrate/phosphate levels, they might tank, be prepared to dose nitrate temporarily if it goes to 0. Also, if you have a bunch of algae this amount of Vibrant might really aggressively kill a bunch in short order, so in that case run your skimmer wet, and remove as much dead floating algae with a net as you can to get that out before it feeds another algae.

I think that sums up that thread...others can chime in if i left something out. Short answer is you should be just fine.
