I have got spirulina after my 5th dose I'm on my 8th dose now. I did use chemiclean though to try to kill it but the spirulina is still there a little. My nitrates and phosphates are undetectable on test (salifert). Can't say where it comes from.

I got some type of red slime around the 8th dose mark. it lasted a week and went away.
Wow, after one week? That is pretty amazing! What is the rest of the tank like now? Are you on maintenance or actively treating @cromag08 ? Do you have any water parameters that you have tested while dosing Vibrant?

I ordered direct from UWC on a saturday and got it Tuesday. I wonder if it is cold weather related delays.

Two doses per week, so eight doses would be four weeks. I'm still dosing twice a week as I was battling bryopsis and I want to be as sure as possible that it's gone. I have done zero testing. I had a good amount of algae, so if I tested I'm sure I would get false readings.

I am about right there with @cromag08 today would be dose 9. Around dose 4-5 I noticed a few small spots of cyano. But today it skyrocketed and took over my entire sand bed and a few pieces of rock. I am following the treatment but have a couple friends coming over so I did add some Chemi-Clean to try to clear up some of the cyano before they are here.

There was a huge amount of progress on my algae issue from dose 6-8 starting just after the first signs of cyano.

Funny, cyano is getting bad in mine too. I'm about to break down and use chemiclean, aka erythromycin... Don't like to do this and may try another WC before dosing it but I don't think a WC is going to help much at this point.
@john.m.cole3 , @jsker do you think I should just dose a full bottle of Vibrant? :eek:
:eek::eek:

I am finding, stepped up W/C 's with vacuuming the substrate, and blasting off the rock with a turkey blaster is helping out a great deal. One can no expect to just dose and the problem fixes its self. I cleaned my glass once last week, instead of every two days.

I don't use any chemical filtration anymore... well for about 5 months now. I used to have cyanurlina when I ran the chems but did not have algae. I stopped the chems, cyanurlina went away, corals looked better, and algae started to grow. Turf and bubble to be exact. after 4 regular doses at twice a week, I can see a change in the turf algae and the lack of benthic growth on my rocks. I liked that benthic growth that gave my rocks that fuzzy look to them. they're cleaner looking now but maybe less natural since the back wall and bottom are still lined with a heavy mat of detritalgae.

On a different note... a local friend of mine started Vibrant and it was doing what he wanted. He changed his feeding schedule (less) and BOOM cyano shows itself. He told me that when I started to dose, to change absolutely nothing about my tank. I've listened to @ClintL so far and have no visible cyano at the moment. Maybe he can chime in with his vibryano experience.

I was thinking about putting Vibrant on a dosing pump for a more steady "drip" of the bac in bottle miracle worker. I dose 8 ml twice a week. what about 2 ml a day to accomplish the same thing? The bottle might last a bit longer this way :rolleyes:

Great point John. It would be interesting to put it on a dosing schedule to keep more Vibrant but I do not think that the amount matters as much with Vibrant as it does with chemical treatment like GFO or lanthanum HCl. That is just an assumption and not data driven at all so no way to quantify that Vibrant dosing amounts do not matter as much as presence of it.

I have also become last with GFO, sounds like it's time to test PO4 and change GFO with a healthy WC... This time I'll start over and follow what you've though John, and not change anything or get lazy. :)

I voted no....but

I have dealt with spirulina for quite some time. I have used chemiclean a few times in the past. Now here is the but, while I have not had an infestation anywhere near the past. I have noticed a few very small red patches of red. I'm assuming it is spirulina. They are so small and have not grown like the past so I'm saying no.

I finally got some very faint cyano on my back glass yesterday. That's after 7 doses of Vibrant. a buddy of mmine w/ a larger system (500 gal TV) said he went through several phases of cyano. He said they all cleared up eventually and he did not change his routine one bit during Vibrant dosing.

I forgot to mention - I am up to 13 doses.
