Who’s got vortechs in a peninsula tank and what’s your preferred settings?

I’m running 4 MP40’s only on the back panel on a 180 gallon, 2 on each side. Right side master, left side slave.

I’m still trying to hone in on a chaotic and changing flow pattern that breaks through all the way to the other side of the tank.

Hoping we can all share experiences as there’s not much out there.

I have a 40G breeder as a peninsula. I've got one MP10 on the back panel (and intend to get another for the other side). Up until recently I had a small Jebao pump as well but it quit working on me.

I put that MP10 to to 100% on reef crest mode (yellow) and typically lower it down a notch for night time. Will probably put them both at 100% using reef crest and just let their random intensity spikes interact however they will - sometimes the tank water would turn clockwise, other times counterclockwise, sometimes they'll fight each other. But that the whole point: random and chaotic flow.

Nice! I went with that for both sides with antisync for the top and bottom pumps.

This combination is great, but it’s still hard to negate the flow back through the middle of the peninsula to the overflow... any other peninsula vortech setups out there?

Agreed, there will always be a one way flow down the middle back to the overflow. I have a large birdsnest colony that is growing with the current all in the same direction, haha.

That’s a whole other opportunity. I was thinking about a powerhead on the top inside panel of the overflow randomly pushing back at this flow... not sure what’s the right pump to do it with the exterior magnet on the inside of the drain/overflow... would probably work though.

Was thinking the same thing. Could use a jebao or that new AI controllable pump. Assuming that exterior magnet is okay to be submerged.

I have 4 mp60s on 190. 60h 30w 24h. Once a day for about 4 hours I turn wave on 100 percent. Get about 3 inch wave that rolls against my eurobrace. Otherwise run them in reef crest on the number 4 dot. It's a bit of an obstruction. But seams to work best for me. Never look in the in to much anyways
