Does a warpaint goby still exist? Had them years back but now seems no one even knows what it is....
Wondering if they still exist in the hobby or did name get changed or....
Picture of one I had

There are several species of clown goby; yellow, green, citron ... I've heard the name "warpaint" applied to the green clown goby, as it does have similar stripes on its face, but I've not seen one precisely like the one in the OP.

I would totally buy a warpaint goby. Sounds way more cool than a wimpy clown goby.

Well then I think you answered your own question. So same species, just a different color variation.
Not sure... link to only place I remember finding any info....but info is a green clown goby??? the pic I posted is one of the pair I had about 15 years ago.... I have only seen them a handful of times but in maine we dont see alot of the " rare"

The green clown goby is the one I've always heard as a warpaint. They're in reasonably often at the LFS I frequent, as are yellow and citron. I've never actually seen a yellow with the markings like the one in the OP. Rather nice.

I have a warpaint in one of my tanks, and a citron too. They both like to hang out in the SPS, and while the warpaint seems not to bother the SPS, the citron is a real jerk, nipping at the SPS constantly. I wish I could catch the @$#&! and toss it in the softie tank.

I have seen and had over the years ,green, yellow, black, citron and yellow war paint the yellow warpaint was best behaved, liked to live in a nepthia

I had a pair of yellow warpaint for 3-4 years. they started laying eggs, I was unsuccessful in raising any mostly because I had issues with s-rotifer cultures... but i ended up giving them to a fellow reefer
