So what type of algae is this and what’s the best way to deal with it?

My hermits don’t seem to touch it at all.

Looks like Red Hair Algae or Red Turf Algae. Mexican turbos will usually eat both if it is trimmed down some. From what I have seen they wont touch it when it is long. Tuxedo urchins are also known to eat it.

Also let us know what you parameters are for the tank. SG, NO3, PO4, etc. As well as the tank info, as in size lighting filtration, etc. This will help with coming up with a solution besides just adding something to eat it. For example it may be using nutrients that are to high for other thing to out compete it. You reduce those nutrients and it dies.

One more thing. If the rock can be removed. H2O2 can be used to kill it. Again this is not solving the root cause of the issue, just bandaid of sorts.

Tons of ways to get rid of it or manage it, but if you can provide all of the above, a plan can be worked out to get it done the best and safest way possible.
