What is your ph

I keep a pH of 8.2 (ocean standard) and a dkH of 9.

ph 8.2 and a dkh of 8.

I'd do a large water change if it is abnormally high.

8.0 for the PH and 9 dkh. If you want to lower your ph a simple water change will do.

Vinegar can also drop your PH, but it can cause an algae bloom. Water changes are the best method.

8.15 ph @ 7.5 dkh

I pay more attention to dkh and stability of that element rather than chasing ph.

I havent dont a probe calibration in a while so I will tonight just to be sure, but my PH has been around 8.4 and reaches to 8.55 during its peak, then drops down to about 8.25 after a couple hours of lights out.....

Do you think 8.55 is too high? I have seen it jump to 8.59 once before

I swing from 8.05 before the lights come on and about 8.2 when the lights are on. My ACjr keeps me honest. lol 10 dkh

If your pH is too high, it might be good to look at what might be the cause. pH is a relative measurement of proton concentration in the water, which is affected by different things in a reef.

pH = -log [H+]

Although a pH of somewhere between 7.8 - 8.5 is recommended, where 8.1-8.3 is better, a stable pH is more important than achieving a specific pH, such as 8.2. Better to maintain alkalinity (which changes faster than Ca in a reef), than to target a certain pH.

Does that make sense? :)

Ph 8.3-8.55
Dkh 9

I run a Pinpoint monitor and run Kalk 24/7 through my ATO.

I don't worry about pH as long as it stable and between 7.8 and 8.5 it will not cause any problems.

alk, I shoot for 10 dKH in my tanks.
