I am approaching a new build and accompanying two friends along their builds and have debated light systems. What lights are you using and what do you like about them, what do you wish you had known before you bought, and is there a lighting system you wish you had purchased instead?

If is a tank that can handle 400 watt halides go for it. There is just something about 400 watt halide that can't be beat. But my current tank that I'm building I will be running leds due to the fact that is a small budget build tank and I happened to get a great deal on the light fixture but as soon as I can I will be buying a 400 watt fixture for my tank

starting a new build I would high suggest LED's. You cant deny that they are the future for aquarium lighting have a kessil a360we and I love it.

I would go with a good brand LED system or a T5 setup if you can't afford the LEDs. I have the Radion Pros and they work great on my tank. I like the ability to dim them and change the schedule as needed or the color pallet if needed.

Just built a 40B/20L sump. Running Reef Radiance LumenTek Pro 180. Love the programming options! Set it and forget it. I'm so enjoying watching these lights go from morning, noon and night. No heat transfer at all. Best of all my corals love it!
