what to get first

Trying to decide if I should pick up an MP10 or a Tunze 9004 nano skimmer first for my 30 gallon mixed reef. I have some more SPS coming in soon so trying to figure this one out. The tank currently has 2 200 GPH returns but that is it for flow so far. Which do you think I should get first and Why. Thanks for any help on this.

Skimmer without a doubt. Pristine water conditions are a must when keeping most sps. They do not like high nutrients. You can always use a couple of less expensive power heads for added flow.

How often do you do water changes? How much do you feed?

I do a 10 percent weekly and feed small amounts daily right now.

Id say Skimmer but I love my mp10 and am so glad I bought it. Probably the most expensive investment I've made for my reef besides the leds.

Eventually you should get both.
Mp10 and frequent water changes.
Or skimmer and not as frequent water changes. Both flow and clean water are important. If you have a lot of livestock or planning it, you may need to replace ca. And alk. So you may need more water changes or dosing. So I would lean towards mp10 and frequent water changes.
Get the one that's more expensive. It will be easier to buy the cheaper one later.
