This algae has just started to appear in my tank, and am wondering whether I should be concerned? If so, what's the best way to get rid of it. Thanks!

Im not sure, do you have a better picture as it’s a bit blurred ?

Better pic, here. Since it's on the rock, not sure the feel of it, but it kind of looks like the texture of the top of a pool table. Isn't long or have any length.

it looks like green cyano for me. do you have GFO?

I used to have it but it's super easier than pink cyano

I think you have 2 types of cyano green and pink

GFO? Is that a treatment, or what is the treatment?

GFO is used to balance phosphate not to reduce till 0 ppm. it has iron oxide hydroxide and work as a binder to bind with phosphate and be another chemical product and then taken by skimmer. When phosphate bind with iron, phosphate will disappear from water column. so GFO is binder . It also bind other chemicals such as: trace metals, arsenic, selenium, silicate, organics. Metals such as manganese, cobalt, nickel and zinc.

people use GFO to reduce phosphate till 0 and this is big issue. Best approach is to use it to balance phosphate, once you reach 0.05 , reduce the media in the reactor. play with media quantity till you balance phosphate level.

As muzikalmatt said, it's media where you can place it inside media reactor. 2 little fish have cheap and good reactors for phosphate reduction. always start with half quantity advised by manual. best media brand is rowaphos.

take picture of sump and tell us what your sump consist of.
