I’m torn between the 308s and the 306a. I am strictly using it as a fail safe for a heater that already has an internal temp regulator so I’m not looking to spend more than $50.

I’ve read a few comments from the past but wondering if anyone has more experience to share or pluses I may have missed.

Why I like the 308s, it has an easily replaceable probe in case it becomes faulty. No WiFi.

The 306a is the double probe WiFi. I like the WiFi but do not like how the probes are not easily replaced. I also don’t know how much I’ll use the WiFi.

I have also read this one seems to have alarm problems and they go off frequently. I assume because of the double probes, which could present more issues.

Then there is is basic 306t which doesn’t really have any benefits besides being the cheapest. But it is only $5 cheaper than the 308s.

Only ones with plastic coated sensors for reefs, some still with metal ones but not for our hobby.
Wifi is useless to me

have two, 5 years no problems

I have the 306A and really like it and I use the wireless often. I like being able to check my temp throughout the day no matter where I am and also like that it keeps a running graph for every day right there on your phone. I haven't had any false alarms or any problems with it at all.

I used a 306T for 2+ years with the metal probe on multiple tanks before the plastic option existed. On my new build I am using the 306A dual probe with WiFi. I attempted to put one probe in my tank and one in the sump with the heater as a cheap way to detect the return pump having issues. It's been alot of trouble because of the tempature drift between the two probes is to great so it throws alerts. Wifi had been ok it's nice have a way to get temperature alerts but thier app isn't really that great otherwise, just for push notifications.
