So I recently had to evacuate my house and set up one of the fluval 13.5g aquariums for the 2 clowns a few corals that survived. It seems cool but im not sure how good the light is. I have one of the orbit marine lights that was in my old tank sitting in a box. (replaced it with an ai prime I never actually used it.) They seem to be comparible in size do you think it's worth retrofitting to change to the orbit marine, or should I just stay with fluvals light? Also I grew cheto out of the back chamber of my biocube by attaching a light to the back glass. Do you think that would work at all on this the middle chamber is maybe a 3rd the size of my biocube one.

If you were using the current light with success, don't change it now. Best to cause as little change as possible if it's a portable light.

No lights that come with a retail tank will be any good for Corals. They are just made to display fish.

No it is meant for corals. Does just fine with coral.
What corals do you have? Spare time is right, I see the 14k HO lighting the box says, very cool.

If you have softies and a hammer or similar LPS, they will probably be fine under the 13.5 tank lights. I would monitor them and see.

Would love to see pics. Might pick one of those up for the desk!

I only have a few corals left and the ones I do are barely holding in there. 1 sps which was given to me and have no idea the name. A Duncan, a hammer, a goniopora (which only 5 arms even show a head but don't extend. and maybe a dozen heads left of beauty and the beast zoas that are so discolored you can only see pink in straight blue light. Horrible rock assortment, it's all so the sps was on top and goniopora that's attached to one has a chance at light. Regardless even though it's in an rv closet by the bed it's nice to have any tank around again.

This just isn’t true. The Evo (the 13 gallon and 32 gallon), the Biocube, and the Nanocube all have stock lighting that is perfectly capable of growing most softies and LPS and the latter two are capable of growing some easier SPS and anemones. They aren’t the best lights, but they’re totally capable of growing corals. The AiO’s on the market these days are really pretty decent.

Someone did a par measurement of it in YouTube. Its not the best spread but it definitely can grow coral. I actually have the light as my refugium light right now lol
