Which tank?

I recently went through this and ran a bunch of comparative #'s over a period of a few months comparing the reefer xl 525 to the max 500. In the end, the $'s were pretty much the same for similar size tank between the two when adding some nice equipment to the reefer, including an apex controller. I really don't think you can go wrong either way. For me, there were a few deciding factors that lead me to go with the Reefer: 1) I preferred the ability to customize my equipment, 2) I preferred the rimless look, 3) The DT dimensions - on the Reefer, the DT is longer and not as tall, which I preferred, and; 4) I did not like the rear circulation chamber on the max. it adds about 6" of non-display width to the back of the tank, so the DT is really about the same width on the two tanks, but you need more width in the setup location for the max

In the end, $'s came out about the same, so it's really just personal preference.

Great info! Thanks! It appears that the reefer is running away with it and has really opened my eyes to the right choice for me...the reefer! I want that rimless and your comment on the dimensions also proves positive for me!
