I've been narrowing my wrasses that I would like to add to my tank, but can't which one. I'm interested in either Halichoeres richmondi or Halichoeres melanurus pairs. I'd like to have both, but I think I'd be pushing my luck. The richmondi is my favorite, but very hard to come by. I might also add a flame pair before/after one (or both) of these. Any thoughts on which one and if you had either (richmondi or melanurus), please let me know how they were.

I do not have any pics but I have several wrasse in my tank among them are a yellow coris, melenarus, mystery, lubocks, pylies, carpenters, and christmas wrasses. I added them individually as they became available at my lfs and as I had the funds.

Good deal. Thanks

I have/had a pair of melanarus in my tank for about two years ..... no other wrasses but peaceful with all other fish I had, never aggressive with anything, always out and active and until very recently never bothered anything in the tank other than occassionally taking food away from some of my lps. I had to remove the female about a week ago when she began nipping at my clam mantles out of the blue ..... and I just removed my male last night even though he was still being a model citizen since I figured it would be easier to find them a new home as a pair.

I've heard of the mantle nipping before. Glad they were good for a while for you though.
