Why do corals need parr

Why do corals need fancy lights if the ocean is dark under water?
Because it is not actually dark under water, there is plenty of light (not all spectrums, but does include what is needed) that reaches photosynthetic corals to allow well, photosynthesis to occur.

Corals that live wayyyy further underwater have to be able to utilize lower light levels, or are non-photosynthetic.

The sun is very bright and extends to the depths where corals live.

He sitting here like, then why cant i set my tank up next to the window. Ocean a mysical place mate. But most reefs have a location situated with good light around all day for the most and tones of flow.

I think you can. Some aquaculture farms use greenhouses and sun.
But, sun is somewhat uncontrollable and most corals look pretty brown under all wavelengths.

It also might be too bright for most corals unless you filter the sun.
