hey guys, I have some green algae growing up on my rocks. I'm not sure what it is, definitely not GHA though, its either turf or bryopsis but I don't see any fern like growths and I let it grow for a while to see if it would turn out to be fern looking, i'll try to get a pic up later when I get home.
I pull out what I can whenever it grows up enough for me to hold on to it but there are little areas that I cant reach that always grow back and spreads. it comes out in little tufts. I may try using tweezers to see if I can reach those hard places.

What I was actually wondering if I squirt it with some hot water if it will die or is that just a waste of time?
Also what are your thoughts on shutting off the pumps and squirting peroxide on it for a few days prob use 5-10ml per day to spray it.

My nitrate and phosphate read undetectable but may be inaccurate results seeing that the algae is using it up.

so if I shut off the pumps and squirt peroxide directly on it for a few days it should be effective?
Well it is most effective if you can take the rock out for 5 minutes.
Take a syringe with 3% peroxide and squirt it on the algae.
Wait 5 minutes and put back in the tank. Within 48 hours it will be dead.

^^Agree with peroxide; hot water won't do much good, definitely won't kill the roots.

I prepared a rock yesterday to make a write-up on this. (Bryopsis is what i planted)
So stay tuned!

hmm.. taking out the rock will be a big challenge its at the bottom of a rock stack that's all epoxied together and has corals all over the rocks... :(
