I’ve been gone since yesterday afternoon and haven’t checked apex till now. Saw 84 degrees and felt like I got punched in the stomach.

Should I expect coral loss? It’s mostly sps. Time will tell but I just wanted to hear people’s experiences.

Tanks been getting hotter since summer started (even tho ac is at the same temperature??????) why is that?

I had someone blast the fan in my room just now so temperature is slowly coming down.

Everyday I get the alert that temp is over 79 degrees and I just turn on my fan and it goes back down. Forgot to turn the fan on this time, guess I need to get a chiller!

Seems like a heater was on if the room was still the same temp as it was before unless ypu turn on a fan everyday

Apex can run computer fans automatically also. Place the fans above your tank to get evaporative cooling and remove heat from lights.

The question is, have people experienced temperatures close to 84 degrees and lost corals due to temperature. I’m seeing most people on here say that 84 is the limit so that’s comforting.

Good point, I’m not sure. I think like 55%?
Over 50% evaporative cooling starts to fall off.

It is about acclamation. I have one mixed tank that’s 82-85 pretty much half the year and is fine. Your case is a spike though.

Temperatures can rise in the summer months if tank is located near a window or up against east and west facing walls . As far as possible loss , that would depend on the health of your coral and it’s ability to handle temperature swings . 84 degrees is on the high side coming up from 77-78 . Keep a eye on them and try to keep the temp stable from now onward . No guarantees but wish you luck .

Yup agree with above, it’s up and quickly.
Not good.
Not much you can do now….keep an eye for a few days.
They are better with lows, than highs.

I would expect so, my temp spiked to 86 and it killed my torches!

Hopefully the system thermistor is reading higher than the actual value.

You have an apex system, utilized it to it full potential. Set temp threshold on your heater, lighting to shut off at desire temp. And mount a fan to have it turn on and off to keep it within range. You can buy those $13 round fan from walmart or target and it does the job. I use that 5 for 5 years on my 200g tank and kool my tank fine

It's not good, but I don't think it's quite into catastrophic range. The corals we keep have to be able to deal with some amount of heat, given where they typically grow.

Let us know how things turn out? I'll admit to being curious.

My system range from low 80s to mid 83s through 24 hours everyday of the summer right now. Actually it's ever since I put metal halides on my tank
