Withering Zoas

What’s going on with these Zoas. They started to take off growing off the frag plug. Now some heads look like they are withering away.

Are you dosing anything?

Are you experiencing dino or cyano?
If not, often too much white intensity or water flow will stress them.
Elevated nitrate and phosphate will be a cause as will high salinity.
Any fish you've seen nipping at them ?

Dip if you can and check for zoa spiders. My bam bams were growing like crazy, then withered away. I dipped the rock and zoa spiders like crazy.

My zoas are all super happy and popping babies left and right and my phosphates are at 0.32ppm

His salt, water source and salinity will differ from yours. I have colonies and colonies at 0.11. It will differ tank to tank. These are just some of mine

Dip if you can and check for zoa spiders. My bam bams were growing like crazy, then withered away. I dipped the rock and zoa spiders like crazy.

While not ruled out , none of those with spiders would be open as they not only reproduce quickly but imbed themselves into the zoa heads and leave them all often closed up

Doing zoa for decades, things to watch again includes too much light and too much water flow, parameters suddenly changing. One tother thing to mention . if you are using NoPox or carbon dosing, I have found in some cases, that some of the zoas die or melt away. Not sure if it is due to the drop in nitrates or a rise in carbon levels.

This makes the most sense to me cause they are high up and I have two prime 16HDs and they are in a spot that gets high flow. My salinity stays in the 35, low 36 ppm area. Parameters are in check I can post numbers I wrote down when I get home. Plus all other corals are doing good. Mostly LPS and anemones. So I’m thinking how are the easiest I have going bad on me smh lol.

Not dosing anything. And too much light and flow could be a issue. I mentioned in another comment they are high up in the middle of my scape.

I could do this with the ones that are still on the frag plug. Some have grown onto rock so not sure how I could treat those.

These were acquired as colonies but growth has taken off quickly
This is the reason to get aquaculture’s coral
