This started with my upcoming 29th Birthday. I wanted to get something really special for my last year in my 20's that would usually get me in trouble by my wife. So a couple of family members pitched in for this $400 dollar 3/4" Acro and I covered the rest. I really wanted something that I could awe at every time I walked past my tank and settled after much consideration on this acro.

After letting it rest for a day I mounted it. It's sitting around 250 on the part meter and pretty strong flow.

So I haven't noticed much vertical growth but it seems in person it's filled out a little, encrusted to the rock and is deffinitly showing off some color. A nice deep pink is developing with yellow on the coralites, and a nice green hue on the base.

Lol hows that cyphastrea doing? Very very cool, has to have took that back wall by now.

Well, I guess I'm ready to talk about this. Last October I had a major crash and lost most of my acros:(. I held on to the frag for a month well after it was gone hoping that just maybe it would come back. Triton test showed high Aluminum, I believe from rusty hinges on the canopy. And I believe a bad pump was polluting the system aswell but I have no way to prove it.

A few mini colonies survived but my system went from this

It's been on the mend things are growing back and we took the opportunity to reaquascape since we didn't have so many colonies encrusted.

On the bright side the cyphastrea survived, it's actually plating! It ran out of light and started to grow off the side.

You can really see the damage my Bubblegum digi took on the left.

So I am sorry to report this and it still sucks to remember what it used to be. Some times this hobby can be just as disheartening as inspiring.

In time it will come back, I had a crash 2.5 months ago and some of the corals that I thought were long gone are coming back.
