I have come to grips that i cannot keep xenia, i have have them before in previous tanks but Not in my new setup, I have tried twice and they do great for a month, but then all of a sudden start to shrivel up and eventually dissapear. I have heard that they are indicator corals but, this time when I noticed it shriveling I tested all peram, and they are in shape....,oh well, it's a shame cause for some odd reson I really like them.

It might not be such a bad thing considering they can over run a tank in no time. I can barely keep it. I also can't keep GSP, but I can keep SPS.

I do know that about xenia over running tanks, I had one grow crazy before but managable, crazy about gsp, I have a colony about 6 inches.

I guess that's what's different from when I used to have some years ago, I really didn't try to hard to keep a low nutrient tank, nitrates in the 20 - 40 is where I had it, now I am around .25 range.

Xenia are great filter feeders and nutrient exporters. If your nutrient levels are low then xenia will not flourish. Your SPS is probably much happier while the xenia is not.

Pick your battles.
