I think he might of used a little photoshop color balincing. As you can see my colors Dont look as dark as his. I like it alot and am very pleased with it but i think it will have med/slow growth. Right now im just trying to find a place it likes. I have mine on the sand bed now with little flow, that pic was taken under med lighting.

nope
i have never seen them look like your picture, looks totally stressed they need very low light and mine are shaded...yours looks bleached, probably still needs to settle in

hopefully marvin will chime in here, he was over the other day and saw them in person many times
theylook exactly like the pic

+1 looks a little bleached...

mine has 3 babies now and i think another nub :D

Well there on the sand bed now, but befor they where about 2 inches higher, i hope that helps but i doubt it. I guess the next step would be in the shade.

also heres what people have to understand and this goes for all coral not just zoas. sometimes i have to cut one off the side (loss of color), some things HATE being fragged (sunny d's turn black for me when they are fragged-loss of color), they get stressed in shipping (loss of color), they have to adjust to new lighting (loss of color), they have to adjust to a new water chemistry (loss of color)

sometimes, but not all the time, a coral will take months to reach its full potential
especially the yellow jackets because no two polyps are the same....some are just plain yellow, some have the 'soprano' pattern

another thing to think about
i shot my pic top down with a $1500 Canon
your pic is thru the glass with probably a point and shoot...

anyway back on track.....once they get settled, they will grow nicely for you

i have found mine to grow in spurts...but they will explode when they are happy

Yea thanks for the info, and that was taken with a canon 7d with 70-200l with tubes, threw low iron glass.

Holdyourlight send me a polyp and I will prove them wrong! :)

I'm still working on getting a pic, but I will say that I think mine looks as good as holdyourlight's avatar. It did take a few weeks to really settle in, but it's looking great now and nice and beefy. No new polyps yet, but it is forming some new growth now.

For the first week or so it wasn't even fully opened. I have found this to be typical of palys of this particalar morphological set. They seem to belong with the lunar eclipse and certain darth maul sets, and many of these are apparently parasitic on branching corals like Cyphastrea and acros. They don't seem to adapt to captivity as well as some others, and they need a little more time to settle in. Still a great paly, and I see lots of potential with this one. Given the pictures I have seen of some Sopranos, aside from the Coralpedia pic, I would say I prefer the Yellow Jacket over the Sopranos, though I have yet to see a real one in person to compare.

Wish I could tell ya, but Mike keeps re-nigging on our trade :D I got two fat Armaggedons waitin for ya bud, and man do they glow!

im sure they glow but do they melt!:ooh:

also-i didnt know you had the armaggedons- you didint have them last time we talked!

Got em, man are they pretty! So far so good, had them in there for a few weeks now. Just crossing my fingers that they don't decide to kick the bucket!

Yellow Jackets are awesome... I haven't been too excited with any z's or p's in a while and when I saw these in person, they kinda tickled the right spot... much more impressive when you have at least 8-10 polyps... :)

just consider Mike's lighting as well.. he runs 5 ATI Blue + and 1 Fiji Purple... when mine gets happy, I'll take a snap... I run (2) 22k AquaScience; (2) ATI Blue + and (2) Fiji Purples... :)

Nice to see you back Zack, seems like you disappeared for a bit. Let's talk man, I can probably frag you a polyp!

Yeah, apparently I've been missed by a few. Just been real busy with non-virtual stuff lately. Not gone, just not a lot to say. Nice to know my silence was noticed though. :)

We definitely need to talk about those armageddons.

Man, that's gotta be one blue tank, not that I'm complaining.
