my old zebra was a model citizen and wouldn’t touch shrimp, but maybe i was just lucky.

Do these eels typically eat live shrimp, or do they avoid them if they’re kept well fed?

Zebra eels are pebble tooth eels and crustaceans are on their menu, and that includes shrimp. Sometimes you get lucky and they may live with cleaner shrimp, but that many times is short lived. Nature is nature, and nature rules, no matter how many exceptions may you hear.

Yeah, my zebra ate both of my coral banded shrimp (well, I assume he did based on suspicious timing) and then turned on my spiny lobster and ate that too.

Thanks, wishful thinking is all. Too bad all the cool fish aren’t reef safe

If I could get the eel out I would re-home it. Never see the thing versus the shrimp and lobster that I would see all the time .... well, used to.
