crab out shell

my turbo snails was flipped over and sucked in. When I picked it up it fell out. I put the shell back on top of it it think it's dead. Should I toss it out or should I let the bristle worm and hermit crabs take care of it. If I keep the shell will it smell ? It fell clean out looked nasty when...
