“Scientific Test” using Hydrogen Peroxide to Kill Algae

Just wanted to show my results of dipping my GHA covered rocks in 1:1 ratio of common 3% Hydrogen Peroxide and my DT Water. (The larger rock with GSP was only 1/2 dipped as indicated by yellow line)
Results are great!!!!
EDIT: The GSP seemed stunted for about 2 days but is doing great now.
Next test is same dip on algae covered feather duster!

That’s good to know! I wonder if that would work with all corals or if some would die

i would not dip any inverts in hydrogen peroxide.

I used peroxide to kill GHA as well. It works great but I over did it last time and scrubbed my rocks with peroxide and a toothbrush before transferring them to my new tank. Totally destroyed the bacteria and algae and caused a dino outbreak. As long as your careful tho it does work.

I've used it to kill GHA as well, just be careful around corals and inverts

Yea my corals and anemone did not like it at all when exposed to it. You have to dilute the crap out of it if dipping or brushing corals.

Yeah, my mix was pretty weak. Only 3% H2O2 to begin with and then mixed 1/2 and 1/2 with tank water. Now I have to dip other side of GSP rock.
Ive some Other ideas I’ll post results soon....

to a coral or invert, that's pretty dang strong

Am also wondering if the H2o2 is pretty inert (wrong term?) meaning it will dissipate over time? I think I read here somewhere that light will also cause it to “break down”?

it is the exact opposite of inert. it will oxidize anything that it comes in contact with.
