Uggh!!! I don't have rally. I just did a 100% water change within the last 24 hrs. (I started TTM last night). Can I just start the copper? I only have coppersafe will that work
With velvet that bad, they're trying to give your fish immediate relief as every minute they have infested gills reduces your chance of the fish recovering with this fast-moving parasite.

At least do a freshwater dip if you don't have rally to give the fish a head-start. Increase copper gradually over 24 hours with small doses every couple hours for best chances.

Good luck!

^ I agree, definitely do the freshwater dip ASAP.

If you have any antibiotics on hand (kanaplex is a good choice) you can dose that to help ward off infection (which is why we recommend rally bath)

And yes, get that coppersafe going as quickly as he will tolerate.

I agree with diagnosis & advice already given. If you don't have Rally/acriflavine, at least do the 5 min FW dip before beginning copper treatment.

You don't happen to have formalin on hand, do you?

I have already started to raise the copper levels. Can I do a FW dip before the dose of coppersafe? I will do it today.

You can do the freshwater dip any time. Sooner is better than later though.

Okay, the weirdest thing, about 95% of the spots are gone. I'm assuming they fall off just like ick. He's swimming around like normal. Should I still do the FW dip and Acriflavine bath?

Yes. They drop off as part of the life cycle. Go ahead and do the dips and start copper.

+1, don't be deceived...they'll be back (in my Arnold voice, which is not very good[emoji13])
They'll be back with a vengeance, far more numerous when they return

I wanted to do a mini yank transfer. While in the bath I was going to dump the water clean it dry it out and refill, good idea?

Run some bleach or vinegar through it as well before drying. Yes, this is a great idea.
How long in the Acriflavine bath
45-90 minutes depending on how bad they are and how much time you need. It's not a harsh med, so longer is ok as long as ammonia isn't going to be an issue in that time.

Long night. I completed a mini tank transfer, a fresh water dip, a Acriflavine bath and back into new saltwater and now bringing copper up to therapeutic levels. It's not there yet but slowly bringing it up. Hopefully in the AM. I also completed a water change on Angel's tank. Let's pray my efforts pay off.

This is what I love about you asking for advice...you immediately take said advice and spring into action. One day you are going to have one heck of a display from all your hard work :) I'm rooting for you! And sending prayers.
