Does anyone know why my nitrates and phosphate have been at 0 and not moving much from there last nitrate reading was 0.2 ppm moved from 0.0 ppm a week before

Not saying your wrong but in my experience it didn’t
I know pepole get varying results. But the other person who runs my 75 with me added some neonitrate and it shot the alk up.
By what I know it was due to the fact that when nitrate is formed a bit of alk gets taken away.
When it gets "destroyed" that gets released. But if you remove the creation it really throes it off when in big proportion.
It also was a dosing mistake on my end.

Thanks for all the replies I have a 20 gallon IM I have two snowflake clownfish two Mandarin dragonets a torch coral two yuma mushrooms and a splatter bta everything looks fine except my torch after doing some thinking I dose pods too feed my mandarins and have been for month's and I aslo dose Oceanmagik phyto too feed my pods and in my research phyto after it grows and reproduces it digests nitrates and phosphate so I'm guessing I overdosed for too long and it completely stripped my nitrates and phosphate?

Do need more info. But you might wanna feed more before you get dinos.

Also please don't dose nitrate and phosphate. It makes your alk shoot up.
This has not been the case for me. I use sodium nitrate and trisodium phosphate and never had a problem with alk being elevated.
