Guys I seem to be having a issue with my nitrates it used to be 5-10 few months ago . But now every time I check before water change after water change doesn’t matter it’s always 0 nitrites and ammonia too. I don’t have much green hair algae. So I’m not sure where it’s all going? I’ve tried over feeding, but starting to think I’m not being generous enough.

It might be worth posting a picture of your system so we can have a look?

If you have enough fish in the tank (based on its size) and you overfeed the nutrients including phosphate will increase

You might want to take a look at your filtration. It might be too efficient. If you have a refugium you can shorten its light time.
Few weeks ago I was using a external filter I don’t even know which model but it’s a crystal profi. So I doubt it’s too efficient. Also at the moment I’m in a 550L tank the sump isn’t ready yet so using the same Cannister filter.
I have about 11 fish and the most algae I have is on my hermit crabs shell but that’s about it. I have recently upgraded to this tank maybe 3/4 days ago

Ok wait, was the 5-10 nitrates another tank and this is a new one? It will take time to build nitrates in a new system that size. My 180 gallon tank has been running 5 months now and I am finally reading 2.5 Nitrate after being at 0 since setting it up. All that extra rock and water volume can handle a lot more fish waste. It goes back to the filtration being too efficient for the bioload. If you have small fish the biological filtration may be outperforming the amount of waste being produced. At just a few days in the new tank I wouldn’t worry. If it persists a couple months, add more fish!

It was actually 0 in the old tank for a few weeks too before I changed to this one so I’m not sure

Since it doesn’t look like you have a slimmer to turn off I would say get more fish in there.

Have ordered a yellow tang blue tang and a fox face rabbitfish only issue im having is how I am going to quarantine these fish together
