Probably wouldn't hurt. It turns brown like that when an infection sets in. It can spread.no clue. ill have to break it off the rock. should i dip it in revive?
I entered that thread but IMHO it seems crazy to me not to check mag, at least for me But as the saying goes, everyone has their own book.i dont usually test that because of randys write up on how its not worth it. but i can
no prob! i can check it!I entered that thread but IMHO it seems crazy to me not to check mag, at least for me But as the saying goes, everyone has their own book.
It is, but that's more or less just a generalization for a symptom, not necessarily the root cause of the issue.Could it be brown jelly disease?
I think most people agree that at least for hammers and torches, mag is one of the main parameters, at least for me It needs to be close to 1400, if it is below it starts to look badno prob! i can check it!

how did you do it?? ok just got done with the parameters. sal.-1.025, nitrate-51.2, alk.-8.5, phos.-.58, cal.- 490. i know my phos and nitrates are too high. for the phos, am working on that with gfo (2 days ago). i feed kinda heavy to try and help some of the things that seem to need more food.
I Ive had my phosphate at .25 and nitrate at 25 as long as I’ve been testing but I think ideal is phosphate at.05-.1 and nitrate 10-15 but everything has been happy so I’m not chasing numbers. This is my observation so take it for what it’s worth, my torches, hammers and frogspawn seem to thrive with magnesium at 1400 or a little higher. I think under 1300 is detrimental. You might want to take it out and dip in Lugol’s iodine incase there is an infection like Tim suggested and spot feed it something meaty like mysis. Of course need to rule out pests and or tank inhabitants pestering it.i dont usually test that because of randys write up on how its not worth it. but i can
Remove dying head ASAP, look into the ingredients for a KFC dip.med. it just gently sways around. so what do i do about the dead head? its all brown and kinda goopy looking
mag is 1470I think most people agree that at least for hammers and torches, mag is one of the main parameters, at least for me It needs to be close to 1400, if it is below it starts to look bad
That’s good but how did it get there? I have to dose as my salt mixes to 1350.mag is 1470

BJD (depending on the actual infection) can spread to any LPS - torches, hammers, froggies, Acans, Favias, etc. Can, won't necessarily will.i guess the AFR. what all can the diesase spread to? i have several hammers but only one other torch....
