Just my two cents here and my situation was different because it was my lower back. I had two disc that were totally crumpled and another that was protruding and pinching nerves causing severe pain in my lower back, down my legs and even into my feet. Iwas in constant pain. Suffered 1 year and 8 months through pain meds, physical therapy and several rounds of epidural shots to try to help the pain and nothing helped. Physical therapy actually made it worse. Finally I had back surgery they replaced the disc, trimmed off the one that was bulging and pinching the nerves, then put screws and a metal bracket in my back to strengthen were the disc were. That was a little over 2 years ago and I have 0 regrets! I have had no pain other than normal healing pain after the surgery. I had to jump through a lot of hoops but finally the insurance company approved the surgery. Thanks! I think I'll keep putting it off as long as I can
