Alright I need some help. Over the last week snail shells and now my conch shell are empty. Almost all of them have a hole through the top of the shell. The hole in the conch shell is about the size of an eraser. I know it’s not my dwarf hermits. I’m thinking its Mr. Mustard with a candle stick in the Library. What ever it is it is nocturnal and strong enough to create a hole in the shells. I haven’t added anything to my tank in a long time.

hmm...do you have bumble bee snails? they can do that.

I have had bumblebee snails in for a couple of years. I did a google and came up with 2 things, octopus will drill through clam shells and there is a Whelk snail that drills through snail shells to get to the meat. So I either have an octopus or a whelk that snuck in as a baby and just recently is big enough to start this carnage. I removed a whelk snail 2 years ago after I began finding empty bumblebee shells and then caught it red handed with a bumblebee on it’s back and the whelk eating it. I took it to the whelk farm and I like to think to this day it is running in the fields of wildflowers with the other whelks chasing butterflies and rabbits.
 
After alot of research and chating , I am using this formula. There are a good amount of formula's out there but this is the most used I found and close to nopox formula ratios.
500ml vinegar + 375ml vodka and 125ml rodi water..

Along with following nopox formula directions and maintenance.
NO3 above 10ppm dose 3ml/25 gal
NO3 above 2.5ppm but less then 10ppm dose 2ml/25gal
NO3 above 1ppm but less then 2.5pmm dose 1ml/25gal

For my 300 once I get my numbers where I want it then it will be 11 ml daily for Maintenace.

If you got to red sea nopox dosing calculation page it will tell you based on your type of tank and size...

Oh it is stella time....

The formula is the formula..
The dose amount per 25 gal is for every tank.
For your tank I would just dose for 25 gal and see how it reacts to be safe..

That's what I told you, you put 3ml for 25g so I stick to those numbers, it's not like you guys who have big tanks lol

yes stick to those dose numbers guidelines. Make sure you use non flavored vodka..also corn vodka is better then wheat(just like drinking it) ....The smirnoff red label NO7 is clean and non flavored, extra filtered, no colors added. ANd it is cheap

The good thing about that is you dose, look and see, leave for a couple of shifts, come home and notice a difference!
