I have a couple of wide, but thin rocks that I want to drill out and attach to base rock. I feel like the threads would be better than just acrylic rods. Thoughts?Nylon should be, yes.

Most people use acrylic rods and glue them in or drill the holes tight so they don't slip easily. Nylon is not super strong and could break from the weight.I have a couple of wide, but thin rocks that I want to drill out and attach to base rock. That's why I wanted y'all's input. Thank you. Most people use acrylic rods and glue them in or drill the holes tight so they don't slip easily. Nylon is not super strong and could break from the weight.
It's probably fine, it just won't hold it as tight. I'd probably put putty on the rod, then put it in th rock and let it set up that way if you want to putty it. I've never actually used anything to keep the rocks together... I just balance them like the best puzzle I can...If the rock hole is larger, should I fill it completely in first, and drill the hole? Or just epoxy putty the hole and stick the rod in?
Have used vinyl tubing, 1/2 inch like the kind for my reactors, goes into John guest fittings before. That's why I wanted y'all's input. Thank you.
