00W's AIO Smorgasbord

all set with this ! Nervous about the plastic but it’s on a budget. Might just mix all my salt in 5 gallon buckets and fill both with just RODI.

My concern is salt sitting at the bottom. I can then valves to circulate through the pump. But would the mixture through the pump cause salinity issues later down the line from build up?

Thoughts?

There is a story behind using coral skeletons in this tank. A nod to my Dad.

When you get a chance, share the story if you haven’t previously

So when I'm setting up a tank i.mix the bulk of my saltwater in the tank - before the sump. I'll use two or three powerheads to circulate the water.

Dad had this aquarium that he had coral skeletons, shells, and beautiful porcelain fish in. No water. It was very pretty. I shared pics of our tanks with him often. The plan was for me to come set up a real tank for him. Never got to happen.

Bags look pretty pimpin!!

No they aren't cheap a friend of mine has bid on a couple.
I've got several in my tank. Most of my SBB Acros and Gonis died. I think I have 3 mushrooms and 1 Goni left. Down from close to 25 of each and probably 15-20 Acros.

When buying corals is there a standard size that most sellers send or does it vary a lot?
Varies significantly by seller. Frags are anywhere from 1/4" to 3".

Do you know what caused them to die?

Different things on some. Some RTNed overnight the first or second night in the tank - seems common with maricultured corals (corals from the ocean), some Mushrooms were thriving and then slowly melted, something happened recently in my tank that cost me a bunch of Acros and Gonis - never figured it out but it has corrected itself recently.

Are there sellers that tell you the size of what your getting? Just wondering because it would be disappointing if you thought you were getting a good deal on a nice Coral and then when it arrives it's so small you can hardly see it.
