Good night! Just finished some elk tacos and now watching some Death in Paradise.

I followed the directions exactly. I turned off UV Sterilizer during this time. I don’t know what it says about skimmers, since I don’t have one. Again, follow directions exactly. When I read on R2R about everyone using it, most common reason it didn’t work is they didn’t follow directions and either put less Flux in or didn’t wait the full 14 days

It is reef safe, and did not hurt ANYTHING in my tank other then the GHA.
You do not do Any water changes during the 14 day treatment. I did one the day before I started treatment though,
Yes, directions say to do water change after 14 days, I chose to do a large one - 35%.
Yes, keep manually removing long stuff, especially the GHA as it starts to turn grey and die. Also, if you see it breaking off and floating in water column, Use a net to scoop out

I will definitely do a large water change after. Will the nitrates and phosphates go up really high? And where exactly does the GHA go?
I will also continue to do manual removal while the treatment works.

Also when I ordered the Flux RX it said it treats 100 gallons. I have a 90 gallon tank but you know there is rocks and other stuff in the tank taking up volume. How do I know exactly how much to put in? Also should I add extra to help?

I cannot help you with this one junior I have never used the product.
I will say to follow the directions, realize you have less water than 90 gallons and don't over dose anything. That's always a bad recipe.

Hi Parker,

Regarding Skimmer, just follow directions- I believe you keep it on. Don’t alter what directions say just cause you think it’s good.

I didn’t realize you have a reefmat like I do. Not only did I keep it on, but I increased the inches on the auto-advance to 1.0- 1.3 inches. I ran through a whole roll as it was picking up all the GHA.

I recommend you do a big manual removal of GHA and then do 20% water change right before you add Flux. Don’t worry about nitrates/phoshates during treatment. As long as you are diligently removing the die-off of GHA (grey stuff still on rocks/sand and the loose stuff floating in water, you’ll be ok on parameters.

The GHA doesn’t go anywhere unless you remove it.

Regarding amount of Flux to use; you and I are basically the same in total water volume and rock/ sand. Close enough. I used the entire bottle of powder except for a smidge. Since you are using capsules that you have to take the powder out of, I would use the all and on the last one, use 75%. But to be honest, I don’t think it will hurt to use it all. The directions will say if it’s a no no.

You won’t really have “extra” and if you did cause your tank was smaller, you Would NOT use extra.

Take the collection cup off of the skimmer, it'll help keep the water aerated.

At least I believe that's the directions.

?? I haven’t seen you post numbers in old build thread. I test weekly and right now twice a week on alk/cal/mag while I’m getting AFR pegged. If I just put in build thread it’s the same as a piece of paper.

I hate excel but I am a big fan of numbers in the APPLE world. Very similar just easier to code around. Thats how I plan to keep an eye on my levels.

I tried 2 apps this morning. Aquarium log and aquaticlog. The first one is more friendly on the first approach. The second takes very few more minutes to adapt (where to add coral for example) but it is better on my point of view. It gives you target on parameters, info on fish... Both are free, I read for aquaticlog free for 1 tank I think.
