When you get a chance, give us a full rundown on status.

- Walter Parameters
- Health of inhabitants
- GHA, status compared to when you left. (remind us what day into the 14-day second treatment your at)
Anything new crop up?
- Take pictures of FDT so we can see GHA.

we’ve missed doing reef stuff with you and everyone has had to suffer with my long, not reef-related posts, so help us out / lol

Everything looks the same. GHA hasn’t gotten any better.
I am just worried about my hammer. Here it is today and here it is a few months ago. Not sure what to do about it. The color doesn’t seem great

Hi Parker,

Ok, we can help - please reply to all my original questions, including tank pics.

Regarding your hammer - did you purchase it as a single-head; and if so, when it closed at nite, was it still a single head, or multiple? It has clear split into 4 heads. That’s a lot of splits in a short amount of time, unless you actually got as double-head to start with. They can look a bit worn out while splitting, but usually recover rather quickly. Hard to tell color issue you mention in that particular photo.

My recommendation is just leave it for now, focus on getting water parameters where you need them, and let;s get that GHA out of the tank. If you do that, all corals will start to improve.

The more experienced group will likely weigh in as well, but we really can’t help until you give us all the information I asked for. It will tell us a complete story vs. one question after another depending on which one of us is online.

Hey Kevin! Not sure if you're aware but I do actually have two Birdsnest...

This one is green polyps with purple flesh. The other is blue polyps with a metallic green flesh.

I wish I could put Kev’s BN on my left rockscape, and Tim’s metallic one on right rockscape.

Welcome back Parker, I hope you had a great Spring Break! What @ESABOE said is true, mine look unhappy before and during a split. They could also be pouting because the gha is up taking all the nutrients. Not a great time to be increasing nutrients though. Although I’ve never used one I saw a before and after picture of a tank covered in gha and the poster added a sea hare and the results were amazing. Last time I was at my lfs they had a three inch one. You could try Reef Cleaners. I can feel your frustration but this will pass and just be a bad memory.

All fish are great and new clown is good. Most corals seem to be good except for the hammer.
I think we are on day 10 of second round of flux. Things are the same but I am still manually removing.

It has a brand new head that is growing in. It wouldn’t make sense if the whole thing is doing bad and it has a brand new head growing. Hear is the baby head

Also all the heads have their mouths wide open sometimes why is that?

ok, then it hasn’t really split yet, maybe the one baby head. This is good. Status quo at this point. Like Kev said, the GHA can make them irritated. When i get the mouths opening on mine, means they are getting rdy to split.

Again, let’s not worry about Hammer now or adding anything new to tank. Let’s finish the 14 day Flux cycle. Spend time literally lawn mowing the GHA on all rocks, around frags and if GHA is covering a frag, delicately pick out with a tweezer type tool - that’s what i did on 3 corals that got covered .

Made a big decision regarding my anemones and ultimately my bonded clowns.

The nems take up a lot of real estate, are known, big splitters, and have likely killed one fish already - Frankie.

Personally, I wouldn’t add anything until Flux is over and you have truly done a complete manual removal down to lawnmower look.

But that’s just my more cautious, methodical approach- there are many many ways to solve this problem
