This is just my opinion.
In all my years of saltwater fish keeping I have never relied on a salt to do anything but make the water salty.
I don't have anything but softies so probably not the best one to respond on coral requirements but no matter what salt you use you'll have to test and adjust accordingly. Does that make sense?
I don't think one salt will give you everything you need and bam,you're done dosing. You may need to add mag, like Kevin, alk, calcium or whatever. You'll get to know your tank and corals and when/where/what to add.
I use IO as I mentioned.
I switched from red Sea and honestly I can't tell any real difference even though each salt advertises differently on the tub.
My opinion is try a couple if you want then find one and go with that. Be consistent.

Another good thing to keep in mind is pick a salt that you can readily obtain.
I can buy IO at my LFS but nothing else.

Luis, while I am a new reefer, I am a huge researcher on all things pertaining to me creating an ocean in my home.

All the experts say the same:

Doesn’t matter the salt as long as it has a good reputation and has some years of usage data; which Kev/Joel/Frank have cited those brands that they use(d).

Once you find the salt that works for you, stick with it.

find a vendor/LFS that you can easily buy it from.

No matter which salt you choose, dosing of alk/cal/mag will need to happen for optimal coral health/growth.

I keep my reefing really simple and dose one product called All-For-Reef (AFR), by Tropic Marin; which quite a few of us here use.

What’s up, everybody?

I Had a busy weekend working on the tank. I went to a different local fish store yesterday day and got water from there. I hope this place works out. It’s a smaller LFS than the other one I have been going to but the coral selection is not bad. They have a lot of frags and great prices. They have great deals on the weekends and one of them is buy a zoa frag get one free!

I will be going to this LFS for the next few weeks and we will see how things go. I may even stick with this new place.

I did some serious manual removal of hair algae and tank looks a lot better. I fragged the hammer and dipped 2 of my zoa colonies. Idk why but 2 of them haven’t been opening up. Pics below.

I ordered a new frag rack.

I might do an order of some easy corals next week like Xenia, Duncan, acan, etc.

When I have dipped my zoas in hydrogen peroxide it had taken a few days to open. I have done this multiple times.

Me too - some pop right open, but most take a few days.

Wow - I caught up - at least on this thread!

Heading out soon for 4 of 10 radiation treatments. They finally caught up with me this weekend- my 4 ft ladder is literally right next to bed, with all the tools to do a bit of tank maintenance- just didn’t have energy. Ok, I did have a little and that was used holding and feeding my sweet lil granddaughter Gia. Held her and rocked her to sleep for an hour. No better medicine on this Earth.

Going to see both grandkids tonight and throughout the week (countdown to daughter moving), so i might not be on as much.

My daughter did a drive by this weekend and literally just dropped something off on porch and got back in car with kids.

Jake ((16 months) started to cry as she drove away! He recognized Nonna’s house and wanted to see me. There are no words to express my utter joy that he truly knows me. Insert heart emoji

Thank you for being a friend, I appreciate all of the cool people here...This R2R forum has become a "tool" for me to decompress and forget the nasty bad world and enjoy this world where we all share a common "tank hobby" and topics that are not adding stress to me....If you understand what I am trying to say..my team and I just turned down a offer to go provide support across the water...oh this coffee is good, I just walked in 1/2 hour ago...
