Ohhhh... The Indians. Got it

What's a Guardian?
Because the word Indian is so racist and offensive (?) a name change was in order especially because the Cleveland baseball team was the first MLB to have a Native American major league baseball player on its team. I fully support the Samali pirates that are offended and want the Pittsburgh baseball team to change their name and the Norwegians who want t Minnesota football team to change their name as their depiction of of a viking incorrectly depicted one with a helmet with horns. Vikings never wore helmets with horns.

She's about 3/4" right now.

Ok, I’m done but I don’t feel any better!

Right so since it's racist for white people to be offended by a baseball team named the Indians.... Nevermind. I'll stop.

There is a minor league baseball team in the state of Washington that is named after the local Indian tribe, that owns casinos and hotels. You want to take a wild guess at who sponsors the minor league team? Yep you are right, the local Indian tribe. A name is picked out of respect, not a lot of pro teams named the buttercups. Ok, I see what you’re doing I’m done and I still don’t feel better!

This is a very good topic for discussion.
You guys know I'm an old school baseball fanatic.
You can just as easily say that the Yankees is a disrespectful term to many of us and had derogatory connotations for hundreds of years.
I understand and don't understand the name changes.
The Braves are still the Braves.
If we named them all after animals is it then possible for us to disrespect those animals as well?
Just some commentary.
I love all you guys and mean no disrespect to anyone.

Here is another local (for me) team from spokane, about 45 minutes from me.
They garner heavy local popularity but notice the name.

In Arizona we had Squaw Peak. Lots of names had Squaw Peak in them for parks, highways, roads, a mountain, etc. The government decided that Squaw was offensive to Indians and insisted everyone change the names to Piestewa in honor of the first Native American Woman from Arizona to die in combat. From my understanding a bunch of native Arizona tribes said they weren't offended and Piestewa's family said they didn't want anything named after her but Arizona's government knew better than everyone else I guess.

Well put Tim.

On the same topic, after 2 superbowl wins in a row, the chiefs are still the chiefs, arrowhead stadium is still thus named and T Swift still has a superbowl ring. ;)
I think it admirable that the Indians changed their name but it's just weird to me.

Good night peeps! After over two and a half years I think my tank is cycled. I added a couple of clownfish.
