Walker is back from Vacation, everything looks good. He had a scare because of a snail shell. He's leaving again.
JoJo is, well, you already know that part.
Remi is back home and it's HOT!
Luis is working on ACs and taking pictures.
My AC finally works.
I got the Black Porcelain Anemone Crab.
Jennifer comes and likes stuff but she's not commenting much, understandably.
Joel has been hot as well.
Amanda's dog is getting there, but still coned.

ok Luis...on my second cup of coffee..I used red sea salt years ago, blue vs black main difference is Alk # 8vs12.. as far as the Red Sea product you posted "trace colors" , I never used this product. After some reading, yes seems a bit "confusing" with package design, gives you idea your dosing CA. Which you are not using this product. Seems there are 4 products to this line A,B,C,D, which directions say based off CA use by tank or CA you add to tank. So for every 20ppm of CA you have to correct to get to your desired CA level maintained you add 1ml for every 25 gallons of tank water.
So my understanding of the reading I did, you dose this every time you make a correction to CA.
So changing salt brands will not matter, since this product wants you to dose based off CA use or the CA amount dosed.
I like things simple, I switched to Tropic Marin A- and K+ recently to see how the tank likes it since the prior brand I was using, I found the tank was not responding to it after almost a year.
Plus I am carbon dosing a diy formula of vodka, vinegar and rodi H2O.
Hope this helps, please remember this is only my take on the product and there maybe other views.

Thank you my friend, I was a little scared because if the RedSea salt already had the trace elements, then if I continued dosing, maybe I could go above the value, but I think the only way to know is to do an ICP test.
 
Hey Luis, tank will always use trace elements and depletion rate going to be based on several main things but I am sure there are minor things that will also contribute to depletion. Main things are coral type, how many corals, skimmer size. Skimmers remove alot of stuff and as far as trace elements main ones are copper,iron,iodide,zinc. Ozone also contributes to trace elements removal. GFO main trace elements removed are manganese an important element, especially for GONI's and copper. Carbon and any other resin type media will also deplete trace elements.
I personally don't go crazy chasing numbers with icp test etc. I do test with Hannas and have a GHL system and a red sea auto rodi water top off.
I dose trace etc by looking how the tank is doing and since I have big UV,ozone, two skimmers and gas exchange tower, I am sure besides the corals, the tank trace elements deplete fast, so I am adding A- and K+ now...Going to hook up Ecotech doser to have it dose ml's daily of A- and K+...

No, I'm not going to do ICP test for now, I'm not a big fan of chasing numbers as long as everything in the tank looks good, I'm going to continue dosing the trace elements as I was doing, 1ml per week and see what happens, thanks again
 
Hi all! Done with all my tests. Diagnosis: premature ventricular contractions, benign. Had ~500 of them yesterday. Will be on a monitor for a couple weeks but cardio thinks I'm not at risk of anything worse. Thanks for the well wishes!

I need to get to the office to feed the new wrasses!

You might be able to back off a bit or you might need to increase a bit depending on the difference between the seawater you were using and the blue bucket but likely you're going to be close to the same unless blue bucket is that different from natural seawater.
