00W's AIO Smorgasbord

So I am slightly considering for my next batch of phyto I make a large batch so I can possibly sell some. This would just be a small side hustle I could do to make some extra money for my new tank. I could make the batch, and give you guys a free bottle as a test. All you would have to do is cover shipping which isn't much. Then you all could report back to me how things went in shipping, how you like the product, etc. Is this something you all would be interested in?

It's a great idea Walker, this hobby is not cheap and if you can even get enough for the tank to stand on its own you'd be winning, right now I have an order on the way from Dinkin's arriving on Wednesday that was supposed to arrive last week but with the hurricane problem they wrote to me, but when I run out I'll be happy to try and help you in any way I can. So I'm in

Thank you, Luis. It all depends on how my current culture goes. If it's a success, then I think I will do the 'test' orders once I have enough. Then I will start selling them.

@luis angel Wait until you see that feeding reaction after the lights go out. I turn on my blues after lights out when it starts opening up and catch a quick Pic! It'll be interesting to see what color the inside is.

I would love to try some also Walker, cool idea!
Can I ask, what uses it, why and the benefits?
I know nothing about it at all.

I think it's because of a lack of flow in that space, but what do you all think? Or could it be something else? I have another extra nero 3 there for if necessary

Low flow, yes.
Low phosphates? Maybe
High silicates? Possibly

I don't believe it's a pineapple sponge. I agree with Amanda that it's a sponge other than pineapple. It's probably not going to be identified further without pics under the microscope. Sponges are beneficial to your tank so they're noting to worry about.
Thanks Walker! I agree with you guys, but feel much better hearing you all say it lol

It looks like diatoms to me. I could be wrong. My sandbed looked like that forever until I added pods and a conch

Phytoplankton are mostly single celled algae cells. It's the bottom of the food chain. Corals will consume it as well as copepods and corals consume copepods, fish consume copepods. I think you get the point. It contains many things (I forget what they are, if you want I can go look for them again) that enhance both coral and fish colors. It also outcompetes nuisance algae, lowers nutrients AND increases pH.

I think it's a great idea Walker. It seems like you're passionate about it so you will succeed! I wonder how difficult the process of shipping it will be?

Well then that sounds awesome!

Why flow is so hard to perfect?
I Don't know what silicates is Tim, How can I check silicates?

I'm still researching that part but it doesn't seem too bad. Shipping doesn't have to be quick. I think 3-4 days would work. Now how I package it I have no idea.

@kevgib67 How did your day go!
It went well, they went out of their way to welcome me. A large welcome sign, a picture and my bio, cake that had “Welcome Dr. Kevin and I bottle of wine that I drank while driving home. ;) A little overwhelming, new tables, software and a quick tutorial on using the x-ray unit. But I left feeling good, thanks for asking Joel!
