00W's AIO Smorgasbord

It went well, they went out of their way to welcome me. A large welcome sign, a picture and my bio, cake that had “Welcome Dr. Kevin and I bottle of wine that I drank while driving home. ;) A little overwhelming, new tables, software and a quick tutorial on using the x-ray unit. But I left feeling good, thanks for asking Joel!
So happy for you Kev!

Why flow is so hard to perfect?
I Don't know what silicates is Tim, How can I check silicates?
Silicate s are often in new sand or tap water ( I know you don’t use it). Diatoms feed on it and once all is consumed so are diatoms. Pods eat diatoms so if you gone faster add some or more.

If it's true about that welcome hahaha then well deserved my brother, But I don't know why I don't believe it lol
No all true except I didn’t drink the bottle of wine on the ride home.

If it's diatoms, silicates are in the water and they'll eventually consume them until gone, then they'll go away. Almost always show up in new aquariums with new sand/new rock/new water (especially water from a spent RODI since the DI contains silicates and releases them to the water when spent). They don't usually like flow.

If Dinos (from low phosphates or nitrates) they don't like flow and are rarely present if phosphates and nitrates are both present.

As mentioned, stirring the sand with your hand or sand stirring CUC (conches, Nassarius snails, and Ceriths) will help them go away for a little bit while you work on correcting whatever is causing them.

I'm still researching that part but it doesn't seem too bad. Shipping doesn't have to be quick. I think 3-4 days would work. Now how I package it I have no idea.
Just an idea but maybe you could reach out to reef nutrition. They're active on r2r. Or maybe some of our buddies here could tell you how they received theirs.

Was thinking the same thing!
I've seen like plastic screw top bottles????
Might check out some places on line, even Amazon and see what they are doing?
They sell refillable bottles with screw top lids at the health food store.

Yes! And that could be part of the learning process just as much as culturing the phyto

This is the best photo I've been able to take so far as it must be upset about the dip I had to take as I saw suspicious things lol

Looks great! Give them a couple days to fluff up. They also like being fed. I feed mine every few days.

That's a really nice one! I love the contrasting greens and definitely the pink and purple.
