so I am looking to build a manifold for the new tank:
RS650 peninsula that will be a mix reef but LPS dominate then softies then a few SPS last.

The manifold will power :
~ATS flow rate between 250min- 450GPH max i'll have to dbl check with turbo aquatics to see what he says for the L2.
~pentair 40W UV. i'll have to check the flow rate on this as I know there are two flow rates on for parasites the other for general clarity.
~ a carbon reactor or other reactor if needed.

so my idea is to T off from the 1" return pipe and make a small-ish manifold.
questions:
1. should I T off then go 1/2" from the main return or use 1" pipe with a reducing T do go 1/2"
2. any issues going 1/2" for the gate valves don't need a ton of flow?

thoughts and feed back very much welcome.

However you reduce the pipe will have little difference to how well it will work. If a 1/2" pipe will carry enough for what you want it to do, it should be OK. 1/2" gate valves are fine.

thanks is what I was thinking too. 1/2" gate valves are much smaller & cheaper the 1" so if there not needed I would rather use them.
