Yes, If you can remove the rock with the aiptasia then remove it, in the tank there is a good chance you just make them spread all over. Aiptasia like all animals want to live a happy and healthy life, they want to grow to be 2" across and have babies, lol, let them and once you have the smaller onces taken care of then you can feed it some kill juice.

Stay away from aiptasia-X, i spend a fortune on this crap for years and doesnt do much without a natural predator. find that video from reefbuilder how they deal with aiptasia, they get some food grade sodium (something) and its very costic and kills them instantly, other than that they use filefish and have good success keeping aiptasia down to limited population.

Lol, yeah, sodium hydroxide mixed with kalk (calcium hydroxide) is potent stuff. Pump a bit into the crack it’s residing in and it’s a gonna.

Introduce a bigger, meaner aptasia to kill the existing one. . . or could try feeding kalk paste. . . or could remove the rock, manually remove as much of the aptasia as possible, and then superglue the crap out of the spot it was attached too.

Bigger, meaner aptasia might be the way to go actually...

Actually, I've been thinking about it a lot today and I think I've changed my mind on the kalk. My tank is small and I already run at an avg ph of 8.3 but it can swing higher than 8.4 so i'm concerned about what adding kalk paste might do.

lol not one vote for leave it? its been there for a while. weird question but where would i get a needle/syringe if i chose to kalk paste it?

Only reason i'm leaning towards kalk paste is bc thats my main additive anyway

Its funny i always get one at a time. Kill one then a week later theres one more in a different spot. But never an infestation. Just a fun weekly game of find the anemone.

Yes. They hungry hungry shrimps you need to spot feed them often.

I stopped spot feeding mine and thought they could get by with the pellets from broadcast feeding.
Previously they were doing great, even had a baby shrimp born and get to half an inch big. But they went into cannibal mode within the month. (4 to a 1 shrimp in a week). Never saw a body.

I watched the last adult kill the shrimplet. And he then moved on to ALWAYS annoying my acans and Duncan

I had big ones and the most effective way that doesn’t mess with your chemistry is to boil Rodi water and blast it with it. It cooks it and won’t spread it. Easy and free too.

100% pure lye and you'll never see it again. A direct hit virtually guarantees it wont spread.

My peppermints never did. I keep my system well fed though. The peppermint shrimp I have are Lysmata Bogessi however and not Lysmata Wurdemanni.

I had a few aiptasia on some live rock. After going back and forth about the best way to approach the issue I decided to try peppermint shrimp. Well I found an article which stated that L. Bogessi was the true aiptasia eater and not L. Wurdemanni. I was surprised to find that my LFS carried L. Bogessi. I got two of them, acclimated them, and they went on their merry ways. The next morning the aiptasias were gone. Not even the slightest trace left. I’ve now had this rock and the shrimp for slightly over a year. Still no trace of aiptasia.

I can tell you, having had a majano issue, no peppermint shrimp is going to touch them, not even baby majanos. Thankfully they’re far easier to eliminate than aiptasia using kalk paste and a syringe especially if you only have a few. They multiply but not as fast as aiptasia.
